Eddie Bauer Adventurer Bag Review

I wanted a backpack that was functional but had some form of style, most of the backpacks that have any real reliable quality tend to be in the realm of black and boring or really loud colors and out there. So to give you a little insight on my choice I’ll let you in on a secret, I’ve owned an Eddie Bauer backpack for the past 10 years and have little to no problems with it even the wear and tear is minimal. So going off my previous experience using this brand throughout all of high school and parts of college I went for this particular style for the looks.

To get the party started the outside will be first on the list, the bag is a tan color with accents of this olive and brown straps along with this orange stitching. On the front of the backpack are 3 compartments: the main compartment, the little items sections, and the pencil pouch section. The Interior of each section has this nice dark orange nylon which I personally like.

To add to this awesomeness the zippers are heavy duty with the large compartment having a flap to help block rain from coming into the zipper and making it another access point for water to enter through. The two smaller compartments have nylon built into the zippers to also help prevent water from getting your stuff wet. In the bottom pocket is where you would keep pencils, keys, and any other item you want to carry but wouldn’t need it quick, fast and in a hurry. If you do need quick access to your stuff then use the small top pocket, not to big so you won’t have to rummage and let me tell you there is nothing worse than having to go through all kind of crap to find one thing. In the large compartment you can fit you books spiral loose leaf paper or even camera equipment if you add padding and dividers. It has one flex pocket and a laptop pocket that can hold a 15in. laptop and very very snug I might add if you try and use the strap on the laptop. As you can tell at first glance there is nothing special about this bag and honestly you have to use for a couple of years to understand the quality of this backpack.

Let me start by saying this bag comes with a lifetime warranty for any natural wear and tear so as long as you don’t treat it terrible like letting your animal companion use it as a chew toy or taking knife and fire to it you should be covered. The problem I normally face are near the tops of the shoulder straps, the bottom of the bag especially near the back side and the zippers fall apart. With this bag and the years of torture school has put on it the only problems I’ve ever returned it for, was due to intermediate frying near the shoulders and bottom of the bag. The shoulder straps come with nice padding and load lifters to help bring the center of weight to closer to your own center of weight. There are also stylish compression straps to help keep all your things from shifting around in your bag which becomes really important if you are ever doing any climbing or if it becomes important to keep your balance.

To be honest it is just a simple backpack that got the formula right. No gimmicks just good material and a nice design to keep everything you put inside the bag feeling as light and comfortable as possible while on your back. For this particular bag the price point is $129.00 for this Adventurer All-Around Pack but the cheaper $90.00 Adventurer Pack is pretty good with the exception of the heavy duty zippers.

So if you are looking for a backpack that you can rely on and not worry about craping out on you or falling to pieces. This is definitely something you have to think about if you want to invest in since it is pretty expensive for a bag but if you ever had to buy a backpack every year then you should really consider this as a choice. I’m not doing this for a “you should buy this” but more of an informational if you are in school and plan to take on more school.
